Anticipating Recoil, Flinching, Is A Natural Reaction

Shooting A Firearm - Anticipation, Flinching And Recoil

Anticipating and Flinching are a shooter’s natural reaction to the anticipated noise and recoil. These are overcome with repetitive practice and proper trigger press.

Anticipating and Flinching and the Ideal Trigger Control is Letting the Gun Fire, Not Making It Fire: The student should NOT know the exact instant the gun will fire. Each shot must be a “surprise” when it goes off. Steadily increase trigger pressure until the gun fires. Let it fire, Do Not make it fire. Let the surprise happen every time, understanding that the surprise can happen very quickly.

Anticipating and Flinching and Setting-Up the Next Shot: Students will be taught to ALWAYS set up the next shot by resetting the sear.

Anticipating and Flinching and Trigger Release: The trigger must travel far enough forward to reset. Failure to do so will result in “short stroking” the trigger and the gun WILL NOT fire on the next increase of pressure.

Anticipating and Flinching and Maintain Trigger Contact Between Shots: Once the trigger finger has been placed on the trigger to fire, it should never lose contact with the trigger until the required number of shots have been fired, this includes setting up for one more possible shot at the end.

Shooting,Cover, Concealment

In The Evolution Of A New Shooters Firearm Training, Development

The Considerations Of Cover And Concealment Tactics Should be Introduced

Cover: Protection From Fire. Any object that will conceal part or all of the body and provide significant protection from incoming fire.

Concealment is ALWAYS a temporary protection that hides your movements.
Concealment: Any object or effect that will hide part or all of the body but does NOT provide significant protection from incoming rounds. Aware, Positioned & Ready: A constant awareness of Cover & Concealment is absolutely necessary. Develop the habit of seeking and selecting the closest available options 100% of the time.

" Immediate Actions "

TAP-RACK-BANG

TAP - First Tap refers to the first action; that is to tap the magazine. This is to ensure that the magazine is properly engaged in the firearm so that it feeds properly.

TAP - As typically taught in tactical firearms courses, the "tap" is considerably more than a tap and in the case of a semiautomatic pistol is usually accomplished by slamming the gun hard into the palm of the other hand, magazine end down.

RACK- Rack refers to operating (cocking or cycling) of the slide of the firearm.

This will serve to eject a miss-fired round, which could be a possible cause of the stoppage, and chamber the next round.

BANG- Bang simply denotes the action of firing the firearm following the first two steps.

More Than One Target
Point Shooting
Point shooting, also called threat focused shooting, is a method of shooting a firearm that relies on a shooter's instinctive reactions, kinematics, and the use of biomechanics that can be employed effectively in life-threatening emergencies to quickly engage close targets.
